Single: Scarlet Street – CORPORATE MEMPHIS

Corporate Memphis is a scathing, cynical side-eye of a song. A cautionary tale for aspiring artists everywhere about the frivolous, fragile commodity of “success” in the modern age.

Stylistically, it’s a potent blend of emo and post-hardcore. Instrumentally, it’s all crunchy guitars (it starts with what sounds like an absolute stack of them), driving bass, kinetic drums and occasional keys. It reminds us a bit of Funeral For A Friend, Finch and Taking Back Sunday.

The song is pure spirit and spite. Frustration and dedication. You can absolutely tell that the motivation behind Scarlett Street’s music is diametrically opposed to the reason the corporate machines they sing about in this song might want to get involved in making it happen.
