Whoever said that you should never meet your heroes? Yes, often times they will just ignore you, and the rare few will lash out and tell you to stop hovering over them while they try to eat their kale salad. But sometimes, meeting your heroes will give you the push toward a positive direction in life, helping you feel higher than ever before.
And sometimes, “higher” is quite literal. Such is the case on “snoopdoggguardianangel”, the new single from 2026 New Mexico Music Award winner Memoryy, where the songwriter regales us with a tale of meeting the one and only Snoop Dogg in a hotel elevator. “True story,” says Memorry. “I met Snoop on the saddest day of my life… When I needed a sign from the universe most, there he was.”
The single features shimmering guitars and synths, creating a woozy, surreal vibe much like how one would feel if – on the worst day of their life – they found themselves face-to-face with Snoop Dogg. No matter who you are, you don’t ignore a sign like Snoop giving you an encouraging smirk and probably handing you a joint to light up. That’s what gave Memoryy the spark to keep going, and to use the low point as a springboard for getting back on the search for feeling.
