Single: Mary & Adelaide – You pulled up

I had a chance to introduce this Oshawa, Ontario-based band in our last post when I covered the most recent singles, and they are back with a new one. This time, the sound is different, definitely more poppy, but it suits it very well. According to the band, the track is inspired by 2000s indie, the 1975, and the 80s. They also expressed their desire for this track to resonate, encouraging repeated listens with its infectious choruses, catchy guitar riffs, and emotionally charged lyrics about drugs. I agree with them that the melody is catchy, and I have been truly enjoying it. Their previous songs drew more on the emo genre, but this indie pop song is just as great.

Just 2 minutes long, the guitar riffs will pull you in, and you will feel like you have heard this before. Maybe it was in your favorite teenage movie, perhaps you heard it at your favorite coffee place, maybe it popped up randomly while listening to an indie playlist, or maybe you are all imagining this and you have discovered it just by reading our blog. The song has a lot of potential, and it will resonate with many listeners. I have been listening to this on repeat, and the wish of the band that it will stick in my head has been fulfilled. I loved it from the start to the finish.

The song had been accompanied by a video as well, and you can watch it below.
