Single: Mannequin Flowers – Collision Course

A song about repressed, unspoken feelings between friends, Collision Course is an epic, widescreen voyage of a song.

Part indie, part shoegaze, part dreampop, part post-punk, it feels like a blend of The Smiths, The Cure, The Cranberries, and The National. It’s a luscious, layered, scenic, cinematic tune that shoots for the moon and ends up around the stars.

You can absolutely feel the emotion of the band’s captivating frontwoman, Isadora Ferreira, over the course of the song as she sings “is it too late for us to get off, this collision course / I was meant to be on?” but the high point for us is the key change at around two-thirds of the way through. It really takes the song up a notch, going from good to great in an instant.
One of the most impressive bands we’ve come across this year, Black Rainbow Collective’s Mannequin Flowers are playing at the Start Track International Fun(d)raiser Festival London Edition. Tickets are available now. They’re pay-what-you-can, and all profits go to the funding of the blog and label, so get yours now!
