Single: Lunar Bird – Blue Chamber

Continuing the wave of jangle and dream pop into the back half of the 2020s, Italian duo LUNAR BIRD drops the new single “Blue Chamber” (out 2/6/2026), their first release of original work since 2023. The duo of Roberta Musillami (vocals/synths) and Eliseo Di Malto (bass) has spent their time since forming in 2017 crafting luscious indie pop landscapes from their home base in Cardiff, and they hit the spot once again with their latest track.

On “Blue Chamber”, LUNAR BIRD explores a love that grows so intense that the couple isolates themselves in a refuge of their own making, quite literally a “blue chamber.” Blue, in terms of color psychology, evokes feelings of safety and loyalty, protection and calmness, confidence, honesty, and reliability. But it can also mean sadness, passiveness, and predictability. As the couple chooses to linger in their sanctuary, although they may grow to trust and confide in each other at first, the relationship always has the potential to grow stale or unfulfilling. Getting out of the chamber may prove much harder than getting into it.

For their actual last release, LUNAR BIRD released an atmospheric re-imagining of The Cure’s “Fascination Street” for the cover compilation Pictures of You. The words of “Blue Chamber” could certainly fit Robert Smith’s melodramatic lilt, and the music oozes 80s synth nostalgia. It’s easy to imagine this track over a music video on peak MTV, where the shots move between the duo in blue light and a couple slowly going through the stages of a relationship doomed to fail.

Unlike that couple, LUNAR BIRD is bound to succeed once again with “Blue Chamber”, along with their new EP set to drop in Summer 2026. Guest artists on the track include LUNAR BIRD regular contributors Giuseppe Manta (guitars) and Andrea Rizzo (drums). Take a list to “Blue Chamber” below.
