A high-octane smack in the face of a song, “Apathy” – the new single from Brooklyn-based Last Second Dropout – combines elements of pop, punk, emo, rock, rap, and more.
Teaming up with GGGarth Richardson on production duties has clearly worked wonders for them here. He’s brought every ounce of his experience and expertise (from working with legendary acts like Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Biffy Clyro) and has injected their work with his trademark sound.
Together they make an unholy riot of a sound: Part Smashing Pumpkins, part Sum 41, part BBQ Pope. Apathy is a formidable force to be reckoned with.
Of the song, the band explains: “Apathy is about neglect and attention in the modern age. It’s easy to think about love and hate as opposites, but they are in fact very similar. Love and hate are both signs that you care, and the opposite of caring is apathy.”
With the driving energy turned up to 11 from the very outset, Last Second Dropout (made up of frontman Mark MacDonald, LJ on drums, Sophia on keys, and Brad playing bass) gives it their absolute all for you.
Take a listen to “Apathy” below.
