Single: Hit Like A Girl – Only Have Myself

You start throwing around words like “polyamory” and “metamour” in front of most folks, and they might look at you funny. In fact, some polyamorous folks may even give you a nervous laugh. Polyamory can get complicated, and even when people have taken part in the lifestyle for years in any sort of configuration, things always happen that throw a wrench in relationships.

So here comes Hit Like A Girl to tell it like it is on “Only Have Myself”, a new track from the project’s upcoming album Burning At Both Ends, out 3/27/2026 via Cryptid Records. This is the second song Start-Track has covered from the record: “Keepsake Theory” was first.

“Only Have Myself” features songwriter Nicolle Maroulis packing a punk punch as they turn the emotion up through the song, letting the strain of queer heartache build up until they let it all out at the track’s bitter end. Detailing a powerful plea to an unsympathetic lover, the new song navigates a whirlwind polyamorous relationship ending in betrayal. The lyrics mention language specific to polyamory, which will tug at the heartstrings of anyone who knows what’s up. For example:

“Every time they come over to our house/I let you take up all the seats on the couch/Maybe I’m just trying to be a good host/Or maybe I’ll leave the room just like you hoped.”

Those kinds of gut-kicking words go hard over punk chord progressions waiting to bust out, and when the final chorus drops, Maroulis and company don’t hold back as they show the pain of lost love.

“Only Have Myself” is another preview of what’s to come on Burning At Both Ends in March. Hit Like A Girl is also hitting the road through the first half of 2026 (at a time when folks need to scream along with some good, loud music.)
