Following up with other tracks such as ‘Spiral Staircase’ and ‘Fate and Despair’, Halloween strike again with their second single ‘Poison Well’ from their upcoming album ‘Shadow House’. It’s a track filled with darker, spookier instruments that’s punctuated by jangly guitars and allows Halloween to really live up to their name.
Jangly guitars open up the song before the rhythmic drums fully take hold of your attention. The distorted vocals, which sometimes get lost in the rest of the song, add an air of mystery, keeping you engaged and wanting to hear more.
Packed to the brim with multiple layers, each one provides the song with something new and exciting, which leaves you discovering something new with each listen.
Fading slightly near the middle, the growling bass line revs the song back into life just before all of the other instruments come crashing in again, taking this song to a new level, before the ending starts. It’s frantic and messy, with each part fighting against each other in a bid to be heard, making for a perfect way to finish this fantastic song.
Combining dream-pop and grunge, ‘Poison Well’ makes for an interesting listen that leaves you excited to discover more of what Halloween has in store.
