Single: Ghost Orange – Phantoms (Part II)

Start-Track’s very own Ghost Orange (Callum Foulds) released “Phantoms” five years ago with lyrics that suggested a more sorrowful Christmas spirit. Now, just in time for the holidays again, the Nottingham-based lo-fi artist releases “Phantoms (Part II)”, their third single in the past three months and fifth of 2025. Where the first part of “Phantoms” had more of a subdued air, “Part II” pulses with more energy, the drums cutting through the layers of synths and vocal hums to create something ethereal, almost mystically discordant.

I find it interesting that five years later, Ghost Orange has chosen to release a second part to “Phantoms”, especially one that sounds different from its predecessor. Regardless, this makes for a fine listen during this chilly holiday season (and especially a much better one than hearing “Have A Holly Jolly Christmas” for the fifteenth time in a row.) If anything, “Phantoms (Part II)” is really excellent music for standing outside on a cold night, reflecting while watching your breath form in the air, as the stars shine down at the end of another strange year. Take a listen below.
