Single: Echo – Just be Sure to Do the Dougie at My Funeral

Released on October 31, 2024, the single “Just Be Sure to Do the Dougie at My Funeral” by Indianapolis, Indiana-based band Echo, who describes themselves as “pretty rock”, was my favorite Halloween release this year (which is saying a lot, seeing as a lot of bands and artists released great music on Halloween this year). The single is their first release since September of 2023 and I am so, so excited to have more Echo music to obsess over.

There is so much fun, so much power, so much energy in “Just Be Sure to Do the Dougie at My Funeral” and it is one of those songs that everyone feels compelled to dance to, or at least nod their heads or tap their feet – you can’t listen to this track without moving your body in some way. The vocalist, Stanli, is incredibly talented – she puts so much depth into her vocals alone, which adds so much power and drive to the song overall, and the lyricism of this track is just awesome and so fun and so punchy. The guitar, both the rhythm guitar and the lead guitar, have so much power behind them, and the drums create this almost urgent feeling – and I believe that the combination of those is what forces one to move their body when they hear this song.

Echo is an incredibly strong, fun band that gives a gift to the scene every time they release music. I have their songs in multiple of my playlists, and I love jamming out in the car to them with my sister, cousin, or boyfriend, or all three. We all share a love for Echo both because of their sound, but also because of what I’ve mentioned before – the power they have to just make you move.
