Drainlove is an alt-rock band from Virginia Beach, Virginia, working on a new EP set for release in August. This latest single is taken from it, and it expresses the direction the EP will take. Emotive shoegaze alt rock with a focus on the vocals.
The song is brimming with energy, largely thanks to guitars that draw inspiration from the 90s or 2000s, and as you might have noticed, we are fond of this sound. Especially speaking for myself, as I am the one who chooses which submissions we cover on our blog. I always think about what else we have not tried to cover on our blog and whether this or that band is bringing something unique to the table.
In this particular one, I have been captivated by the guitar riffs, which had a dreamy feel to them, and I loved how the melody shifted from slower to more energetic parts. I am not familiar with the Virginia music scene at the moment. Still, I used to know many great musicians from there. I’m so glad there is another band from this country that I visited many years ago and still hold dear on my music radar.
I am looking forward to the new EP, how it will sound, as this single is already promising an emotive, energetic atmosphere, which I always desire more of.
