Single: Day Collector – Window Dressing

This is a driving, pop-precise piece of laid-back, sun-drenched slacker strut which certainly hits the spot. Voices are hazy and narcotic – and everything shimmers away in serene self-containment as the song meanders to its conclusion. It’s all very lovely stuff indeed.

There’s a seeming effortlessness to the sublime simplicity crafted here- a sound of friendships rekindled, of warmth restored and of generosity writ large. There are subtle details adding persuasive interest that coincide with that light-as-lametta soft summer sheen – it’s a delight from start to finish.  David Kitz (who plays drums for Princeton) and Luke McQueeney (songwriter in chief for Conflict at Serenity Pools) have found a beautiful balance between the focused and the fragmented here, crafting something which feels both poised and playful in equal measure.

Having grown up together, this still marks the first of their creative collaborations to be put to tape. The decision to align their creative worlds on record is clearly a good one. They are fully at ease with one another’s sensibilities.
