Single: Club 8 – Travel Back in Time

Even if this isn’t how pop usually sounds for those in the states, this is, at LEAST, how pop should feel.

If you have spent plenty of time listening to early bands on Labrador Records, you will be familiar with Club 8 and the way their mix of indie rock injected with a teensy bit of hazy dream pop fits in well with bands like The Legends, The Radio Dept., and dream pop band The Mary Onettes. For everyone else, you’ll likely meet them in their Darla Records era, an equally fitting label for dream pop, shoegaze, space rock, and many other genres. As a curious listener of Swedish indie pop, if you have not delved into it yet, your ears will thank you for your interest and shame you for not getting into it sooner. Thankfully, two minutes and a few pennies are all you need.

A good way to describe this song is “romantic”, “easygoing”, “breezy”, but not too much to the point where you are ballooned away from reality. It is also catchy enough that singing to the wordless chorus isn’t that far-fetched, whether the song is on or off. Harmonizing, reminiscing on old times, old lovers, the neon glow of the keyboard, and before you know it, theories end before you were ready for it to be over. Even if this isn’t how pop usually sounds for those in the states, this is, at LEAST, how pop should feel.
