Swedish musical duo Club 8 – consisting of vocalist Karolina Komstedt and composer-instrumentalist Johan Angergård – are back with their third single of 2026.
Here at Start Track, it’s no secret that we are big fans of the Swedish duo. Over the course of two decades, Club 8 has mastered a nostalgic indie-pop sound across their vast and varied discography. This distinct sound is on full display on “There Is A Light That Seems To Go Out”, which feels like floating down a scenic river. It’s the perfect dreamy ballad for ushering in spring.
Sparkling layered guitars kick-off the song as Komstedt’s feathery vocals float into the sonic scene and sweep the listener up to the clouds. At the same time, the plucking bass paired with the steady drums ground the listener back on Earth. The melody is soothing – reminiscent of a lullaby – even as Komstedt sings about broken promises and a failed relationship.
Club 8 was formed in 1995 and initially signed to Spanish record label Siesta. They’ve been signed to Swedish independent record label Labrador since its inception in 1997. Since February 2024 the duo has released a new single each month. Within the course of those 26 months we’ve been graced with two new albums: A Year With Club 8 (2024) and Seasonal Echoes (2025).
Might a new collection of songs be coming in 2026? Until we know the answer to that, you can listen to “There Is A Light That Seems To Go Out” below.
