Single: Club 8 – Echoes of Our Time

The new track from Stockholm’s Greatest Export – stalwarts indie pop duo Club 8 – is as dependable as ever.

Part New Order, part The Cure, part The Concretes, their distinct brand of synthy twee-indie pop/post-punk fusion has become increasingly consistent in recent years.

With its pronounced bass, minimal electronic beat, sparking pop sensibilities, and bewitching atmosphere, Echoes Of Our Time sounds like it could have been lifted from last year’s album Seasonal Echoes – which you can find on limited edition vinyl from Darla Records here.

The musical backdrop is matched by Karolina Komstedt’s trademark vocals – airy and whimsical but at the same time feel tense and measured – a contradiction that makes them all the more enchanting.

Musical veterans of more than 30 years, Club 8 are well and truly back and show no signs of slowing down.
