Already exhausted and tired of 2026? Then this new release by Ceylon Sailor needs to be the next thing you listen to before this year takes anything else out of you.
Released on January 6th, one kind of lullaby is a hypnotic symphony of horns, guitar, velvet vocals, and a low-key drum beat to round it all out.
What started out as a solo, lo-fi bedroom project in NYC (spearheaded by KM Siegel) has exploded into a group of extraordinary musicians in what we now know as Ceylon Sailor.
Sailor’s sound takes influence and inspiration from a plethora of musical talents, including Neutral Milk Hotel, Superchunk, Arches of Loaf, and more. With every beat, this song exudes ’90s indie roots, but with its own creative stamp, it transforms into something else entirely. Something that really can only be described AS Ceylon Sailor.
Everything about this single feels warm, inviting, and somber in the most uplifting kind of way (trust me, it makes sense if you listen). I’m a sucker for horns in any piece of music, as I’m a horn player myself. The second I heard the first horn, this song stole my heart. It was as if that inclusion completed the circle for me and allowed me to fall deeper and deeper into the abyss that is one kind of lullaby.
With an album in the works to be released later this year, this is a group everyone needs to have on their radar.
Stream their newest single, one kind of lullaby and follow them on all platforms! Also, keep your eyes and ears open for an album announcement!
