Single: Cathedral Bells x Rew – Clinging To The Ground

This is about someone viewing you on the outside but you are feeling indifferent on the inside, which is keeping the mind restless and powerless to make a difference

Born from the depths of obscure analog gems, lies Cassadaga Florida’s dream pop/shoegaze offering, Cathedral Bells.

Conceived as a solo experiment in the Fall of 2018, Matthew Messore crafted jangly guitar and synthesizer layered demos in his bedroom. He soon released a self-titled EP in 2019, followed by full-length ‘Velvet Spirit’ in 2020. Drawing from influences of the 80s, 90s, and early 2010s, Messore (joined by Aaron Gollubier on drums and Kyle Hoffer on bass) blends dreamy soundscapes that draw you in.

I have known about Cathedral Bells basically from the start and they submitted a song to our Z Tapes Fall 2018 compilation. A lot of time passed by and they grow so much and got to a bigger label Born Loser Records, from which I have been enjoying a couple of bands recently like Bleary Eyed or Work Wife. This new Cathedral Bells’ single is a great shoegaze with a really catchy melody, especially the guitar parts. I have been listening to it on repeat before writing this post and I am liking it more and more every time.
