Carl Dolphin is a mysterious entity that makes gritty, heartfelt bedroom pop for outcasts of all breeds. ‘Head Gasket’ is the second single from their incoming debut EP. It fuses upbeat, lo-fi indie rock a la Built to Spill and Grandaddy with a more modern approach, drawing comparisons to everyone’s Bandcamp auteurs like Alex G and Mat Cothran. The track dissolves with joyful lead guitar following it through to the close while everything else fizzles out.
