Single: Blush. – Seasons

The band leans heavy into eking nostalgia out of every note.

Take the slower tracks of Gish-era Pumpkins, strip away the angst and fuzz to leave behind the soft remains, and you get Blush., coming all the way from Victoria, British Columbia with their new track “Seasons”. (For editorial purposes, no, the extra periods are not typos. The band’s name includes them.)

Blush. broke into the Canadian indie scene in 2024 with the release of their debut EP Still Wet, and over the past couple of years have refined their sun-drenched shoegaze sound. On “Seasons”, the band leans heavy into eking nostalgia out of every note, giving enough crunch in the music to not overpower the simple beauty in Anton Wilson’s voice singing: “Say you won’t sail for me/Say you want everything/Say you’re the seasons I’ve been chasing, I am chasing”.

“I think this song speaks pretty strongly to our roots as a band,” Wilson says about “Seasons”. “It reminds me of picnic jam sessions in the park, it reminds me to take a breath, and it reminds me to never stop chasing.”

Staying close to those roots will remain important as Blush. continues to rise as one of Canada’s must-watch shoegaze groups. The band has a new EP called In The Grey coming out on May 1st, with at least one more single planned to drop before then. “Seasons” stands as a great preview of all the melodic textures that Blush. has to offer on their releases to come.
