Single: Bloomsday – Dollar Slice

‘I saw God riding the metro 1’

Bloomsday is Iris James Garrison and Alex Harwood, a Brooklyn-based duo working with a personal favourite label of mine – Bayonet Records. They specialise in a cosy and lackadaisical brand of indie pop that strolls and saunters effortlessly through sweet observations. Their new single ‘Dollar Slice’ will surely resonate with anyone that lives inside of the big city churn, where everything can feel simultaneously beautiful and crushing – endless pairs of feet shuffle past you, an ocean of neon blinks and hums, the suffocating sky is reflected back at you in a muddy puddle. It is vital that every now and then you stop to soak in the cityscape and allow yourself to become lost in the jarring beauty of it all.

From the band – ‘‘Dollar Slice’ is the lead single and centerpiece of my upcoming album, “Heart of the Artichoke” coming out June 7 via Bayonet Records. The song came out of a fever dream whilst I was battling covid and is my own version of “what if God was one of us” and it talks about what it feels like o live in New York. The pressures we put on ourselves and the external noise we let in. The song reminds you that life will pass by if you don’t snap out of it and live it for yourself.’
