Birds With Arms is an exciting Seattle-based band that blends elements of math rock, emo, and indie rock into their unique sound. The group consists of three talented members: Belle on vocals and bass, Daniel on guitar and vocals, and Matt on drums and vocals, and they all contribute to the rich musical texture the band offers. They made their show debut nearly a year ago, and they are back with a brand new single titled Matching Tattoos, marking their second release. While they currently have only one track available on Bandcamp, this new single already showcases their creativity.
The music they create is a captivating mix of catchy math rock infused with the emotive qualities of 5th-wave emo, which resonates deeply with me. I’ve found myself addicted to Matching Tattoos, playing it on repeat because the melody is simply irresistible. The song features impressive drum patterns, intricate guitar riffs, and passionate vocals—elements that are central to what makes a great emo track.
What I particularly appreciate about Matching Tattoos is its pop sensibility, which adds an extra layer of catchiness to the song, making it even more enjoyable. However, it would be fantastic if the lyrics were available on Bandcamp, especially for those of us who aren’t native English speakers, as it allows for sing-alongs and a deeper connection to the music.
I’m genuinely excited about what the band will produce in the future, as this single shows a lot of promise and a clear direction in their sound. I have a strong feeling that I’ll be revisiting this track multiple times, as it has quickly become a staple in my playlist.
