Washington/New York quartet Big Cry Country return with a new single taken from their forthcoming EP, Something Blue. To Voicemail is a catchy, high-energy, full-throttle tune that starts as it means to go on.
Its sunny sound belies a darker lyrical undertone, which seems to examine social anxieties, and the music is a combination of twee indie rock spirit, post-punk rhythms and The Strokes-esque guitars and melody.
The group have teamed up again with Kyle Pulley at Headroom Studios in Philadelphia to record the tracks from Something Blue, with the exception of the lead vocals, which singer Roxanne tracked in the closet of her Brooklyn Apartment.
The EP is due for release on September 5th.
