Single: Big Cry Country – Breather

Big Cry Country has presented an indifferent yet persistent point of view to life’s struggles with their new single.

Big Cry Country gives a bittersweet feeling with their new song “Breather”, recorded at Headroom Studios with Kyle Pulley in Philadelphia, PA.  The opening with the guitar leaves you feeling happy, like you’re about to dance until your head hurts, but then we’re introduced to a deeper story. Going through the lyrics, I realized that the character in this story is unwilling and tired of feeling the need to be perfect. It seems they wish they could take a step back – even for a moment – from the things that are constant in their life.

The music evokes an image in which the character doesn’t care about things they don’t want to handle. Though this may be the case, it seems that they still try to deal with it despite preferring to walk away from it all.

It’s interesting how most songs with similar lyrics may leave you feeling sad or depressed. However, “Breather” has left me uplifted. This is definitely the fault of the energetic yet breezy sound the guitar produces.

Overall, “Breather” captures the art of being reluctant yet still driving through certain pressures. It explains that even though we may be bound to life’s daily requests, feeling the need to step out of it for a second or two is completely normal.

Take a listen to “Breather” below.
