“This track was made following on from a very self-critical time of my life, where I felt as though nothing I would do was adequate, and that I had to be perfect at everything I put my hand to. Using simple but hypnotizing guitar chords, and a perpetual riff throughout the song, encapsulating the endlessness in the struggle.”
We have had the pleasure of covering music from this talented Irish musician in the past, and our experience has been nothing short of enjoyable. In fact, we even had the opportunity to premiere their previous album, which was beautifully complemented by insights from our wonderful writer, M.A. Welsh.
This latest track marks a departure from their earlier works, venturing into the enchanting realms of dream pop. Despite this shift, it still maintains the signature elements of shoegaze, lo-fi rock, and slowcore that we’ve come to appreciate. The atmospheric quality that Amphigory creates is truly captivating, evoking memories of other artists we’ve featured on our blog or label, such as Porch Kiss, Rosetan, and Frans Asthma. Each of these musicians shares a similar ability to weave intricate soundscapes that draw listeners in.
As I immerse myself in this new melody, I find it transports me on a journey of escape, especially after a particularly challenging week at work. The importance of finding moments to unwind and recharge cannot be overstated, and this track provides just the refuge I need. I am genuinely excited to see what this talented Irish artist has in store for us next, and I have full confidence that it will be something remarkable.
