Altai is the musical collaboration between multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Tessa Collins and drummer Andrew Wilkinson. With its tender vocals, beautifully realised instrumentation and tastefully measured effects, their new track is a joy to listen to.
On their first new music since their only other track (2019’s You Said) Altai channel The Cure, The Cocteau Twins, Elliott Smith and Beach House and more. With producer Lachlan Mitchell (The Jezabels, The Vines) at the helm, they have crafted a sound that borrows from jangle pop, dream pop, shoegaze and folk. They have really come on leaps and bounds since the last decade and have clearly substantially evolved artistically.
As You Need It is released via Broken Palace – the label founded by brothers Will and Nick Evans from the previously featured Stray Fossa. They are currently working on their debut EP and we can’t wait to hear it.
