Single: All Violet – (endlessly) return

A syrupy, jangly, lo-fi bedroom pop song, (endlessly) return is as dreamy and full of quiet wonder as the day is long.

The product of New York duo All Violet (who are songwriters Brian Tannenbaum and Mikey Sloan), (endlessly) return is a wobbly, wistful, and whimsical piece that starts rather innocuously, treading water a little in the early going, before dragging you down into the dark depths of immense melody and melancholy with a surprising instrumental shift.

Like a blend of Low, Alex G, and Elliott Smith, the woozy audio tapestry is comfortingly warm and strangely soothing from start to finish, like a hot log fire on a bracing winter’s day. At almost 5 and a half minutes long, it almost feels like a surprise or a shock when the song eventually (or should that be inevitably?) comes to an end – and, like an old friend who is visiting you, after spending time with them, you really don’t want to see them leave – such is the trance-like spell that All Violet has placed us under.

We’ll have to keep a close eye on this pair going forward, and we would encourage you to do the same.
