Single: Alexander Gallant – Fishes for the Seabirds

We all need hope in the face of adversity, Alexander Gallant share’s his words in “Fishes for the Seabirds”

2010 called, and it is coming back in 2026 with Alexander Gallant’s “Fishes for the Seabirds.” Gallant’s singing style is reminiscent of Iron and Wine’s Upward and Over the Mountain. Similar to Samueal Ervin Beam ( Iron and Wine singer), Gallant delivers a whisper/cooing style of vocal delivery, especially with the refrain of “We’ll go Sailing to the Dawn.” As listeners, it is important that we do not miss the lyrics or the song’s socio-political undertones. Gallant’s song is a protest song and a reaction to the public war footage of what is occurring in Gaza.

Choosing a simple life in the face of adversity is never easy, but art helps us all find the balance between chaos and confusion. Gallant describes this song as an “attempt at a prayer” for an agnostic. Regardless of your concept of faith or belief in a higher power, I think it is important that you give this song a listen.

What does it mean to have hope in a world that feels hopeless?
