EP: Very Many Horses – I Won’t Fall Far From Your Tree (Remix)

Black Rainbow Collective duo Very Many Horses released their second single reissue this year. This time, the original track is I Won’t Fall Far From Your Tree, a two-fifths atmospheric piano ballad, with the remaining fraction of the song an instrumental post-rock voyage. Originally released a year ago today (and reviewed here by Callum Folds), this is the UK group’s most popular track to date, and it’s not hard to see why.

This reissue also features a remix of the title track by Kinda Grizzly’s founding father, Harry Heart. Harry has since gone on to start his own Strange Method Music Group but remains a pillar of The Grizzly Community.

Now based on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, Harry undertook this remix remotely and has applied his trademark experimental and ambitious blend of indie and electronica to turn the track into a bonafide banger. Despite his now sunnier surroundings, Harry has managed to summon the sound and sensation of late-night London, a place he once called home. You can imagine this track seeping out of clubs amongst the din of drive-by black cabs honking their horns, rattling overhead London Overground carriages, the buzz of neon signage, high heels splashing in petrol-infused rain puddles and stumbling, screeching groups of girls having a great time.

It’s a bit UKG, somewhat Fred Again.. and more than a little Jamie xx. With the blend of components, we’re also reminded of acts like London Grammar, The Japanese House, Bon Iver and more – and we love every second of it. Get on your dancing shoes; this one is dancefloor ready.

Another remix release drops in August.
