daniel b is a Slovakian artist, specialising in intimate bedroom folk which manages to be simultaneously bleak and sweetly comforting. His new album ‘songs of youth & innocence’ is a passionate experiment in DIY minimalism; homely and soft acoustic guitar provides the backbone while stories are softly recounted over top, transporting the listener to a private space inside the artist’s head.
From the artist – “songs of youth & innocence” sums up the last 15 years of my life and is filled with nostalgia, melancholy and longing for something long gone. i believe these songs are the most vulnerable i’ve ever been, be it both in music and in life. i was trying to capture an intimate feeling, a communication between me and the music. the themes range from simple love songs, to coming to terms with loss, self-doubt and even death.’
