I’m excited to share something unique for the first time: music from Egypt! This gives me great joy because I have a passion for exploring diverse countries and their vibrant music scenes. The artist FHMY hails from the serene neighborhoods of Maadi in Cairo, where he has crafted a distinctive sound that blends the ethereal qualities of shoegaze with the intensity of post-hardcore. His music captures a fascinating fusion that reflects both his surroundings and creative influences. To give you a glimpse into his artistry, here’s a brief quote from his biography:
“He became entwined to alot of interests when he was a child; mainly, anime, gaming and music. His periods of childhood are filled with memory gaps, desolation and zoning out, finding no one for solitude. In an effort to regain his childhood, FHMY decided to record the intense feelings no one understands but him, stemming from poly-rhythmic math rock, indie music, noise and shoegaze, in hoping he can understand himself first, before being understood by others.”
This captivating new single, brought to life with the incredible vocals of AQL, delves deep into the poignant theme of heartbreak. Rich in shoegaze influences, the song envelops listeners in a swirling soundscape that evokes a sense of nostalgia and longing. Accompanied by a stunning music video—linked above—that adds yet another layer of depth and emotional resonance, this piece is truly a visual and auditory feast. I’ve found myself listening to it on repeat, completely mesmerized by its raw, emotional energy that pulls at the heartstrings. I eagerly anticipate what this talented artist will unveil next, as this single is an outstanding showcase of creativity and artistry. It’s indeed one of the hidden gems that we are fortunate to feature on our blog.
