Say what one will about DIY production, but when mastered well, it can feel just like an adventure, as anything studio-based. As soon as the drums (played by multi-instrumentalist Riley Goldsborough) kick in, you immediately get tossed into a hazy reality that you couldn’t fathom winding up in. It is psychedelia that is less sunny, and more like the light hitting you at your most lazy and discombobulated. A stoner kind of psychedelia that leaves you waking up to what looks like a more tangible dream.
Said to be about “comforting but destructive habits,” the vibe is less debauchery and more reflective. Even Goldsborough’s vocals convey a soulful softness that complements the harsh light shining through every bend of the guitar string. A Song you can listen to while lying on the floor, on the bed, or while walking on autopilot to anywhere and nowhere in particular.
