I could cheat this review of Double Take Jake and just write summer in big bold capital letters but I’d be doing Well Well Well a massive disservice. This effortlessly stunning track smacks you in the face like a fresh margarita or whatever your summer tipple of choice may be. Starting with a little guitar lick and bursting to life full of vibrancy, smooth synth chords pulling us along as we go for a ride along the beach. I couldn’t write this without mentioning the smooth sax solos scattered throughout the song only adding to the summer vibe. I’m currently listening to this on a grey wet morning in Manchester, England and it couldn’t take me any further away. All I’m missing is my margarita with a little cocktail umbrella in. Reminiscent of Steely Dan at times, a touch or Prince at others, if this is easy listening for uneasy people then i’m all for it.
