Hailing from Pittsburgh, Weird Era comes onto the scene with their first EP called Shrine, released May 23, 2025. Recorded in their friend’s living room, this project features elements of dream pop, noise pop, and shoegaze.
The main single, Marian, is an excellent choice to highlight this EP. Right off the bat, the guitars and bassline immediately make you want to get up and move. With a catchy hook, you will pick up the first time you listen until you can’t help but sing along. Clean drum fills boom overtop of lush guitars until noisy solos leave your head rocking.
I would also like to give a shout-out to the song ‘Strange People‘ for being a beautiful interlude/skit that features guitars that you can zone out to with a good pair of headphones and listen to for hours. I’m looking forward to what this band has planned next, whether it be another great EP or a full-length album.
