Taking Wave Off to new heights, ‘Burning Out’ is their latest single, and my word, is it an excellent one. Packed to the brim with delicious energy and a fantastic blend of genres, including post-punk and hardcore, it’s an absolute treat for your ears and one you won’t regret listening to!
There’s no time for messing about as the track jumps straight to it, no introductions necessary, and the fast-paced frenzy remains throughout, taking only minute breaks here and there. It’s a song to shout your troubles away to, perfectly encapsulating what the title suggests – burning out. With lyrics like“I just want to say enough is enough/I’m on the edge still holding tight” and memorable guitar riffs, the single proves itself as irresistibly catchy.
The German quintet undeniably knows how to craft an excellent song, one that feels effortlessly nostalgic yet distinctly modern. Throwing you into the heart of the song, it’s fun, dizzyingly chaotic, relatable, and one that begs to be heard live.
Paired with an equally ferocious music video, Wave Off are slowly starting to show themselves as one of the best bands to come out of Germany in a while. So, I would suggest getting into them now to give yourself bragging rights in the future!
