Single: Victories – VCR

“A nostalgic ride through late-night bike trips, dollar pizza runs, and falling asleep to the static of an old VCR. It’s about young love, carefree chaos, and the kind of memories you wish you could rewind forever.”

This short description was shared with us together with the newest single from Montreal-based pop punk band Victories. As a kid who grew up in the 1990s and early 2000s, I have been heavily exposed to pop punk. Whether it was Sum 41, Blink-182, or Green Day, I was as punk as a teenager could get. In recent months, at least from last year, I have been focusing on covering more music from emo, punk or similar genres. It is bringing me some great memories, and I can relate to the music even more.

This particular one connected with me not only because it reminded me of the days I mentioned above, but also evoked a lot of nostalgic memories when we used to watch movies on VHS or music videos on MTV for pop punk bands that looked exactly like this video. I loved the inspiration, and I am so happy the classic angsty pop punk is back. This is precisely what I needed. Energetic, nostalgic, catchy pop punk song. I will not listen to the music on repeat, as they urge us to do so, and let all the great memories rewind to the times when this blog was not even an idea in my head.

Victories made a killer track, and I’m excited to hear more from them. Pop punk will always have a place on the music scene. In combination with emo, they are genres I look forward to listening to and covering more. So bands, send me more music like this great song.
