Single: Tiberius – Painting of a Tree

On Painting Of A Tree, the fourth offering from label debut Troubador, Tiberius flips between two dynamics with a beautiful simplicity. One, quiet enough to hear the hum of amplifiers and soft bass harmonics. The other, a blossom of strings, swirling sustained synth pads, and some fuzzy guitar leads that evoke the black-and-white-to-colour scene from the Wizard of Oz. Utterly magical and completely thrilling, the cement that ties the song together is a dreamy, woeful drawl whose dynamics and expression complement the instrumental perfectly. Self-described as ‘farm emo,’ comparisons to Pinegrove and perhaps Field Medic are bound to be drawn, but, realistically, fans of any indie-rock, bedroom-pop, or emo of a midwestern persuasion will love Tiberius.
