Single: Sue Jackson – SUE IS AFRAID

SUE IS AFRAID” is the newest single from Los Angeles-based lo-fi shoegaze rocker sue jackson. The new song is a lo-fi indie ASMR Rube Goldberg machine of frayed and buzzy acoustic guitars, a two-headed snaky lead guitar riff + bassline, baked percussion, condensed, warbly vocals, and layered synth and other spine-affecting sounds.

The textured, mid-tempo instrumentation serves as the canvas for poetically obscure lyrics that depict a morphing of humankind with nature and a sense of alienation that pairs well with the song’s dejected, 90s-era slacker rock feel.

After a pair of verses interspersed with catchy guitar riffing, the track enters into an extended instrumental coda/breakdown in which a repeating guitar riff spins a sonic web till the end.

Sue is afraid; we’re all afraid. It’s a scary time. We can be thankful for music like this that can help capture the current mood and help us work through the terrifying world we live in. “SUE IS AFRAID” is streaming now on all platforms.
