Single: Strange Fruit – Iridescent

It’s not uncommon for us to encounter tunes that incorporate elements from an assortment of genres to make music that sounds like something more than the sum of its individual parts. It’s not uncommon, but it’s also not normally done this interestingly.

The new tune from Jakarta quintet Strange Fruit is the embodiment of this approach. Reminding us in various parts of artists as diverse as Ryan Gecko, New Order, Hope Of The States, Aphex Twin, ⣎⡇ꉺლ༽இ•̛)ྀ◞ ༎ຶ ༽ৣৢ؞ৢ؞ؖ ꉺლ, Her Space Holiday and Primal Scream. It’s a bold, ambitious indietronica soundscape that incorporates elements of acid house, indie, krautrock, shoegaze, post-rock, synth-rock and much more to make a wonderfully unique musical soup.

It’s the first sample from their forthcoming EP – Drips – which is due out in March next year.
