Single: Soot Sprite – Vicious Cycles

Exeter alt-rock trio Soot Sprite are back with a new tune. The third track is taken from their forthcoming record (Wield Your Hope Like A Weapon, due out May 16th) Vicious Cycles channels the spirit of acts like Dinosaur Jr, Radiohead and Belly.

According to singer Elise Cook – “Vicious Cycles is about addressing your patterns of behaviour and the damage done in previous relationships. The fear of retribution for the smallest of hiccups sticks with you long after the impacting relationship is done “Can’t wash off the oil from your spill”. The thought that you’ll never fully shake it off.”

There are also elements of Paramore (or Hayley Williams more specifically) in the emotional, affected, vocal delivery. Musically the way the song fluctuates between barbed and blissful is compelling as it keeps you guessing throughout.

The album is available to purchase physically here and, frankly, it can’t come soon enough.
