We have previously explored the mesmerizing sounds of SLEEP CLUB on our blog, sharing their enchanting singles, A Lifetime Ago and It’s Not So Bad All Alone. These tracks have beautifully embodied the essence of slowcore dreamy shoegaze pop, creating ethereal soundscapes that linger in the mind. However, their latest single marks an exciting evolution for the band, as they venture into heavier sonic territory while retaining the smooth vocal quality and lush instrumentation that they are renowned for.
This new direction clearly signifies a shift from the dreamy pop melodies of their earlier work towards a more intense, emotive shoegaze sound—an exploration that I find incredibly enjoyable. As someone who has primarily covered shoegaze in recent months, I can’t help but feel that this genre is becoming a defining aspect of my blog; perhaps it’s simply a phase I’m navigating. Regardless, I am captivated by the weight and emotional depth this new track delivers, and it suits the band’s style perfectly.
SLEEP CLUB is the brainchild of Matt Jones, a remarkably talented artist who also plays in The High Lines. This single serves as yet another testament to Matt’s artistic prowess. I was particularly struck by the powerful build-up that unfolds towards the end of the track, accompanied by an exhilarating energy that leaves a lasting impression. I eagerly anticipate the forthcoming music that promises to follow this bold new approach, as it hints at exciting developments ahead for SLEEP CLUB.
