Part Rilo Kiley, part First Aid Kit, part Cat Power, the debut single from Rose & The Dreamboats is a gloriously hazy, lazy, rootsy romp.
The combination of sugary slide guitar and honeyed vocals paired with a minimal backbeat and production that feels, at the same time, both spacious and dense, makes for a truly luscious prospect. Musically, it’s top fucking notch.
Lyrically, there are many highlights in terms of imagery and wordplay, but our favourites include standout lines like “you are timeless in an hour glass” and “tell me what do I tell my friends, when they ask how do I pretend? / coz I’m a wildfire, and you’re a fucking strong wind / but how long can a pendulum swing?” – and of course the chorus. Hats off to Rose Brokenshire and co. We can’t wait to see what comes next.
