On their debut single, “My Friend”, Santa Barbara-based indie pop duo People Pleasers deliver a pleasing and tender sampling of dancey bedroom pop bliss for all the people.
The delicately arranged plucked instrumentation perfectly pairs with the whispered and light-as-a-feather vocals that float over and under, in and out of a gauzy haze before a drum machine-like beat breaks up the candle-lit vibes and allows for a few quick shadowy dance moves before receding back into the track’s depths until the second chorus.
Filled with looped vocal harmonies, twinkly synth arpeggios, and other intriguing, yet always gentle textures, the song offers listeners a sampler pack of different sounds and effects in a dynamic sonic landscape that at all times maintains its soft, illuminating quality.
