Single: Pat Faking – Have You Had Enough

“Everything is better now… now you’re not around.”

These words are inviting you early in the song and will keep lingering for a while. Slackerish fuzzy jangle rock that has swirling guitars and explosive energy with fast-paced drumming and an overall fuzzy, warm sound that will envelope you. The artist describes the song’s theme as “overindulging in life and learning to find calm within the chaos.” Additionally, they added, “it captures the crash that follows excess, when the noise fades and clarity sets in.

The track is short, just 2 minutes long, but it is radiating with energy and even invites us to reflect on our lives. Somehow, the jangle fuzzy lo-fi slacker rock is so captivating, and I have been mesmerized by the sound. I felt like running through the forest, legs slipping on wet leaves, cold air in your lungs, and you want to just escape the world behind you that has been gnawing at you for days.

This is a debut single from these Brooklyn-based musician, and there isn’t much to learn about them besides checking their Instagram profile. They have been playing local shows, which would suit this song even better. Especially the stellar drums, which would sound incredible live. For me, this is finally a break from the classic shoegaze, dream pop, or alt pop I have been hearing in a lot of submissions. Something fresh and captivating. I am intrigued to hear more from this artist, as this is just a start.
