Single: Paradise Blossom – drown

“Connected through their shared taste of music, Thanh Nguyen and Steven Salazar formed Paradise Blossom to reignite the teen dream of creating a band with your friends. Producing all of their music in their bedrooms in Fresno, CA. Paradise Blossom utilizes inspiration from movies to create their daydreamy – coming of age style sound.”

The year has been full of surprises in terms of music trends, and one of the biggest surprises has been the rise in popularity of shoegaze. If someone had told me at the beginning of the year that this genre would be the most shared, I would have been skeptical, but looking at my stats, it’s clear that people are getting into it. While I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself a die-hard fan, I’ve found that I enjoy the guitar-distorted noise that’s characteristic of shoegaze. It’s been interesting to explore the different sub-genres within shoegaze, from dreamy to heavier, and to discover some hidden gems along the way.

One band that’s already starting to gain a following is Paradise Blossom, and it’s not hard to see why. Their latest single is a great example of the heavier shoegaze sound that’s been gaining traction lately. I found myself getting into the driving rhythms and swirling guitar lines, and I think it’s a track that will resonate with a lot of people.
