Single: Nostranders – Drive You Home

Upon my first listen to Nostranders’ latest single, ‘ Drive You Home’, I immediately fell in love with it. Acting as the perfect soundtrack to meet-cutes, there’s nothing negative that could ever be said about this one.

The melodic guitar riffs grab you in straight away, there’s no running away from the addictiveness of this song, and to be honest, why would you want to? The band describes themselves as “cozy punk,” and I think ‘Drive You Home’ is a stellar example of what they mean. The tune has everything you would expect from a typical punk song – punchy drums, growling basslines, and hooks which build into something bigger, but it’s also comforting, like a hug from the one you love most in the world. Speaking of love, I am, quite frankly,  in love with the lyrics. Including hits like“I’ll always be careful when driving you home / I promise I’ll be there when you’re all on your own / tomorrow’s never promised”, they’re like something straight out of a 2000s indie film. Painting a beautiful picture of what it truly means to cherish someone, the small acts that are easy to forget, I can’t help but be impressed with what the young lads have created.

Just as they brought us in, the guitars led us out. Strong but gentle, you can’t help but feel a sense of melancholy that it’s all over, but at least you can comfort yourself with the fact that you can play it all over again!
I don’t use this light, but ‘Drive You Home’ is a dynamic powerhouse of a song. Filled to the brim with everything you could want, Nostranders have truly outdone themselves with this release. If you happen to find yourself in New York the day before Valentine’s, I would 100% recommend heading down to the wonderful Alphaville to catch these boys in action. Tickets can be found here. If you’re not though, you can always listen to this stunner of a song down below.
