Single: Neal Morgan – Feels Good

“Feels Good” is the captivating second single from the highly anticipated fifth solo album titled “PAW,” set to release on March 14. This double album, a labor of love crafted over the course of seven years, has an intriguing backstory that was revealed in a recent press release, shedding light on its creative journey and the experiences that shaped its development.

“The 24-song double album is the product of a creative pivot to pop music for an artist most known for his work as a drummer for Joanna Newsom (Have One On Me, Divers), Bill Callahan (Apocalypse) and other intrepid songwriters such as Amen Dunes and Roy Harper; for his work on film soundtracks including the Netflix Documentary Series Wild Wild Country; and for his four percussion-heavy previous solo albums. Neal lives in Portland, OR and was born and raised in Nevada City, CA.”

The press release delves deeper into the essence of this single. Electric guitars shimmer like sunlight dancing on water, while delicate bells add a touch of magic, creating an atmospheric backdrop. Beneath it all, a laid-back, off-beat drumkit delivers a steady thump, setting the stage for Feels Good, a captivating down-tempo love song that invites you to nod along. This mellow, slacker indie rock track evokes a sense of nostalgia, wrapping you in its warm embrace and lingering in your mind long after the last notes fade away. The unforgettable chorus, with its infectious melody, is bound to remain etched in your thoughts, making it impossible to shake off its charm.

When feeling more alive
Might go for a drive
Cuz it feels good

As I glide down the highway in my car, I sometimes roll down the window, allowing the warm breeze to sweep through the cabin. In those moments, I close my eyes and imagine I am cruising along the stunning Pacific Coast, with the salty tang of the ocean air embracing me. The fresh, moist wind playfully tousles my hair as I listen to this particular track.

Whenever music reminiscent of that iconic coastal area fills the air, it stirs a deep sense of nostalgia within me. I find myself yearning for the vast ocean, the stunning cliffs, and the soothing sound of waves crashing against the shore—all elements I deeply miss while living here in Slovakia.

This song has a magical ability to transport me back to those carefree days when we would embark on road trips along the California coastline, soaking in the beauty of the landscape and the joy of being alive. Those memories remind me of the simple pleasures in life and the essence of what it truly means to feel good.
