Single: Mount Mural – Froze

As some of you are aware, I am a sucker for slowcore and shoegaze music. That being said, I am on the pickier side when it comes to this side of the indie world, but Toronto-based 4-piece Mount Mural might be my new favorite up-and-comers. Their visuals, atmosphere, and overall beauty in sadness make for a perfect slowcore recipe.

Making music since 2018, Mount Mural has just come out with their second single of 2025, titled “Froze.” It’s dreamy, it’s gut-wrenching, and it even features what sounds like a children’s choir. What more could you want? It is exactly how they describe themselves: juxtaposed beauty and darkness.

“Froze” follows up their first single of the year called “Everyone.” One (especially me) can only hope this means there may be more on the way…

Very ecstatic and honored to be able to write on such a beautiful piece, and can’t wait to see what these guys have in store for the future.

If you find yourself located on the West Coast of Canada, be sure to catch Mount Mural on tour this May:

May 17/18 – Nanaimo @ TBA
May 21st – Vancouver @ Red Gate
May 22nd – Vancouver @ Greylab
May 23rd – Victoria @ Little Fernwood
