There’s nothing like starting off your Saturday morning with a cup of your favorite pick-me-up and a quick dose of shoegazey grunge. After a much-needed two-week break from nearly all technology, I was eager to come back and tackle this new single from moonpool.
Historically, I’m a HUGE moonpool fan, which feels entirely justified and validated after hearing their latest releases. Like You Do was released at the beginning of this month, and I’m glad I let it sit before diving straight into it the day of. The stress of July has me tight in its clutches, and in my brief times of respite, I feel invested enough to listen to music, a stark contrast from my usual consumption. Now that I feel the weights lifting off my shoulders, I can give this song the undivided attention it deserves.
Like You Do starts off feeling VERY shoegaze-inspired, soothing my negative emotions and bringing me to a place of comfortable familiarity. A late-night drive, a buzzed-out beach day, and a chill smoking session with your closest friends; somehow this song feels like ALL of these scenarios. It’s emotionally driven, catchy, and effortlessly oscillates between light and darkness.
