Mia Wilson is a singer-songwriter based in Southern California. With her distinctive blend of classic nostalgic instrumentation and honeyed vocals, she creates songs that definitely cast their gaze backwards, but at the same time, feel absolutely timeless.
Wilson and her partner Skyler Lusteg began writing the songs that would make up her forthcoming self-titled album all the way back in 2021. The resulting music is a built of harmonious 70s warmth laid on a perfectly crafted indie-folk foundation.
The amount of time and attention spent refining and perfecting the music in the songs is evident. New single Face To Face follows in the footsteps of the equally magical It Must Be So Easy (which we also featured here) in channelling the spirit of legacy acts like The Carpenters, Wings, Harry Nilsson and Fleetwood Mac, but also touches on more modern sounds. Artists like Karen Elson and Ginger Winn come to mind as Face To Face combines tasteful piano, understated acoustic guitar and luscious orchestral elements.
This tune was produced and mixed by Tim Ramsey (who has also manned the desk for Vetiver and Little Wings), engineered by seasoned professional Tyler Karen (Alvvays, Sharon Van Etten) and was mastered by David Glasebrook, who has previously worked with Patti Smith. Need we say more?!
Mia Wilson’s debut album is out on November 14th via Royal Oakie Records.
