Single: Little Lungs – The Heat

Soothing acoustic guitars open Little Lung’s The Heat, but are met with a brutal bang early on: “Face down against the bedframe / You woke to the fire alarm.” Instant pleasure listening to the bass and vocal melody playfully maneuver with and around each other throughout. Delicate high harmonies seem to contrast against what’s actually happening in the story. Meanwhile, I wonder who Kathleen is? How does she fit into this perceived-puppy-love-falling-apart story? Now you’re wondering, too, so you’ll need to have a listen! Overall, a delicious indie pop waltz pitching the longings of attraction against the risk of being owned by the other. But, I was hoping for more interesting guitar work and less “oooh ooh ooh” vocals for The Heat’s intended triumphant last minute.
